Free Access to More Databases - celebrating national Library Week
April 11-17, 2010!
Many databases we do not usually have are offering free access for a short time in honor of national Library Week! Explore!
The library section of the SSDS website should be the
first stop for research! Current, reliable information in books, databases & websites can all be found here – http://www.ssdseu.org/resources/index.php
Our extensive collection of print materials offers materials on almost every topic covered in our curriculum, and you can always check to see if we have a book by using OPALS – our online catalog. The catalog can be found from the library website, or directly at http://wou.hl.scoolaid.net/bin/home
I especially I want to let students and parents know about our extensive online database collection which will be essential for your school research – and very helpful to parents as well.
Some examples include: Encyclopedia Judaica – the full text of the recent second edition. EBSCO - offering full text magazines as widely varied as Smithsonian, Law & Policy and Consumer Reports. Gale’s Literature Resource Center, offering literary criticism and author biographies. International affairs are covered in Gale’s Global Issues in Context and CIAO. There are many, many more! Science, test prep, economics, Judaics – there’s a database for almost everything!
Also from Gale, we offer an extensive collection of reference eBooks – online digitized reference books, covering many topics in our curriculum – it’s like the library is open 24 hours!
(OK, not quite, but still really useful!)
Please do not share these passwords beyond the Schechter community – but take advantage of these rich resources.
And, of course, I am always available to to recommend a good book to read for pleasure! We have gotten some great new fiction into the library over the summer!
Looking forward to a great year –
please feel free to contact me at kulric@ssdseu.org
or 973-602-3653 if you have any questions!
